Thompson Campaign Death Watch Begins

Well, that was a short campaign. Fred Thompson must be seeing the writing on the wall. He has decided to stop bothering to campaign in New Hampshire and will now focus exclusively on Iowa, hoping that a "strong showing" there can "allow them to springboard into South Carolina." This rings of Lieberman's 2004 declaration of joy in his "three way tie for third place" in Iowa. Unsurprisingly, it looks like Thommie boy will be this years Wes Clark.

Yeah, who thought back around Labor Day he'd be compared to Joe-mentum before Christmas? Yet that seems the way he's headed. I doubt he'll do as well as Clark who won over 20% of the vote in 5 states before dropping out in early/mid-February.
