Whoa, easy there Brazil et al

I've seen a couple of stories now, like this one, that mention how some world leaders, and people around the world, are angry at the United States for creating a global recession. Some people certainly screwed up and it is having massive ramifications. However, the reason these ramifications are so large are two fold, both of which defeat any right the world community has to attack the US for this recession.

First off, the primary reason a global recession occured is from the slow down of the US economy. The US drives the world market to a large extent. In other words, we don't just get rich, but we help everyone else live better too. To be angry about a global recession created by a slow down of the US economy is to be angry that the US boosted the global economy in the first place. The world is still FAR better off with a slower US economy than no US economy. So, allow me to apologize to you oh Mr. Brazilian prime minister, and those who agree with you, how dare we ONLY improve your situation some instead of a lot. I'm so ashamed, so ashamed.

Secondly, some of the damage was done by foreigners and foreign banks buying US securities and stock in US companies. Clearly we owe you an apology. I mean, what were we thinking letting you trade with our banks and purchase our companies? We clearly should have shut out the world and only permitted Americans to purchase American products of and invest in American companies. Whatever were we thinking?

Its stuff like this that pisses me off. Anyone who wants to blame the US as a country for this recession should first look at themselves. After that, you can look to the idiots at the center of this financial mess but don't dare look at America as a whole. Its just ludicrous

Madison.
