The Washington Post for some odd reason allows online reads to view who voted for and against bills by astrological sign. The only astrological sign to vote against the Stem Cell Research Bill was Taurus, by a margin of four, 3 in favor, seven against. Sadly, I don't find it strange that the sign of the Bull is the most conservative on this social issue.
Also If every Democrat voted in favor of Stem cell Research than it could over come the veto at least in the Senate. Bob Casey and Ben Nelson voted against it. Christopher Dodd, Tim Johnson, and Mary Landrieu did not vote. Now no one can blame Tim Johnson for not voting, hopefully he recovers from his brain hemorrhage soon, both because I wish him well and because his vote could do some positive work in Washington. The Other four democrats who did not vote in favor however would still bring the vote's in favor to 67 which would be the required 2/3 majority to overcome the veto.
Stem Cell research is an important area of medical science that should be support by the Federal government. The arguments in favor are overwhelming. Hopefully the Senate will stand up to the 18th century sense of moral conservatism that Bush favors and override his Veto.
