T. Rex proteins confirm link to chicken
In a development that is just plain cool, scientists have been able to sequence the proteins of the T. Rex to finally find its closest living relative - the chicken. This confirms the HUGE body of evidence that modern birds are descended from therapods - the bipedal, mostly meat eating dinosaurs. I nearly completed a geology major in college and find all this stuff really fascinating. Now I'm just waiting for the proof that dinos were warm-blooded - a popular theory in paleo circles that I totally adhere to. For anyone interested in this, I recommend the book "the Dinosaur Heresies" by Dr. Robert Bakker - one of the most cutting edge paleontologists around.
